Welcome to FineArtbyRebecca.com, the website of artist Rebecca Cannon McCluskey.
An artist of
remarkable ability even as a child, Rebecca grew up on the Eastern Seaboard
and has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. As she honed her
skills, it seemed only natural that she would attend Moore College of Art in
Philadelphia, where she majored in Fine Art and Illustration. After
college, Rebecca turned from book study to field study, to gain a more
intimate perspective on anything that walked, crawled, swam, or flew. To
this day, you’re still more likely to find her spending her free time
in the wilds studying animals than in a gallery discussing her work.
As a
photo-realist, Ms. McCluskey specializes not only in predatory wildlife
(wolves, mountain lions, birds of prey, etc), but also pets, people,
seascapes, and just about any subject that is challenging to render. She
works in several media—chalk, charcoal, India ink, watercolor, acrylic,
etc.—but prefers the finest grades of colored pencil because they allow the
artist to add precious details that seem to make her subjects leap from the
art board.
Rebecca's
first set of limited-edition prints,
Eyes of the Wilderness,
is a study of not just the perfect timber wolf, but moreover its
very essence. Eyes of the
Wilderness seems to gaze right into the heart of the
observer, who apparently has caught the wolf unawares.
Rebecca’s
online store realizes her dream of being able to provide the consumer with
fine art at a fraction of the cost of selling original pieces. “I think
everyone should be able to display fine pieces in their homes,” says
Rebecca, “without having to pay exorbitant prices.” To preserve the
integrity of her work, Ms. McCluskey
carefully supervises the printing process. Accordingly, every print
purchased at Rebecca’s
online store is individually signed and numbered by the artist herself,
authenticating her attention to and control over the quality of the
edition. Rebecca has also limited the number of the edition to preserve its
value for the art collector.
With Rebecca
McCluskey’s work readily available to Internet users the world over, you can
expect to see it burgeon with new gallery pieces, as well as new
limited-edition prints for release. So be sure not just to become a
collector of her work, but also to add her website to your “favorites” list
so that you can monitor its progress.
We hope you enjoy your visit! |
